II’m a professional photographer and camera/tech reviewer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I’ve been reviewing cameras and photography gear for more than a decade, with work published in D-Photo, Pro Photographer, NZ Geographic and other publications.
I also hold a Master of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, with my research focused on digital imaging. This technical background gives me a more scientific and systematic approach to understanding and testing cameras and other technology, while my experience as a photographer helps me evaluate how they perform in real-world use.
Today, I create camera, tech and photography content through my YouTube channel, TheRealRichardWong, which has 50,000+ subscribers, 500+ videos, more than 12 million views and 1 million hours watched.
I work with photography and technology brands on product reviews, campaigns, launch events, workshops, photography and video content.

I’m a professional photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand, with almost 20 years of experience working across photography, events and commercial projects.
My background is in professional photography, with experience ranging from weddings and portraits to events. I’ve also exhibited my street photography work and collaborated with photography and technology brands on campaigns, workshops and events.
Photography remains at the heart of what I do. It’s also what informs my approach to reviewing cameras and gear: I use the equipment as a photographer, not simply as a piece of technology.
